Hey friend!
The Members of Adventures ‘R’ Us have gone on many Cabin Trips throughout the last few years. This year, we’re headed to one of 3 locations to celebrate the New Year and would love for you to join us!
Cabin Tripping is an annual tradition for our group and something we hold sacred and dear to our hearts. The friendships that started in 2012 at UC Santa Cruz (read the origin story) have spanned into a decade of fun and memories. To get a glimpse at some of our previous adventures, check out the Home Page – I’d suggest starting with Colorado 2019!
We are in the midst of planning our next adventure and want to share the dream building process with you!
Dates are locked in for: September 24th -29th
Here is some more information on the three locations we are dreaming about: Michigan, Montana, and Puerto Rico.
| Location | Pro | Not so Pro | Pricing |
| Chicago + Lake Michigan | – Chicago / Detroit are both large airport hubs (avg price from SFO $400) – Big city + lake house + national parks – Close enough to do a Canadian side trip – Overall, quite affordable for 4 nights 5 days | – 2 hr drive from either airport | Airfare ~400 House ~300 Misc ~200 Total ~900 |
| Montana + Glacier | – Glacier NP is iconic | – Limited home choices + expensive + long drive to state park – No easy access without connecting flights (regional airports only) + extra drive time | Airfare ~500 House ~400 Misc ~300 Total ~1200 |
| Puerto Rico | – ISLAND time – Literally on the beach – Cheaper home options – Comparable in price to Michigan | – Long haul flight (13hrs) + layover from SFO | Airfare ~500 House ~200 Misc ~200 Total ~900 |
Tl;dr: Michigan & Puerto Rico have the most similarities in terms of pricing – PR is just a longer flight. Each option is a strong contender. Please cast your vote below or FB Messenger (if you are part of the thread).
Additional general information about joining us for a cabin trip:
Price per person: ~500 (or $125 per night per person).
This includes only accommodation + Groceries for group meals & outside meals
Note: This does not include other expenses like rental cars, group meals, or airfare. A breakdown of each of those costs separately will be provided after the deposit of $500. On average, it is about $200 per person more per trip for shared expenses like rental cars, gas, group rentals, etc.
Food: We like to cook breakfast & dinners family style. I will consult with you on any dietary restrictions. If we are heading out for a nature day, we do pack sandwiches and snacks (bulk buying in the group makes everything cheaper!) And sometimes when we are exploring a city, we tend to eat in smaller groups – those expenses will be on your own.
Other details – I highly recommend checking out the FAQ page to get more details. Let me know if there’s anything missing there.
